-First organized movement for English feminism was Langham Place Circle
-The Matrimonial Causes Act 1857 enabled couples to obtain a divorce through civil proceedings
- Christabel Pankhurst and Annie Kenney became the first women to be arrested in the fight for women's suffrage
- Right to vote was granted to all UK women equally with men
-The Guardianship of Infants Act gave parents equal claims over their children
- Oxford University opened its degrees to women

Second wave Feminism (1961-1980)
-Fair hiring processes -Affordable child care
-Paid maternity leave -Equal pay act
-Civil rights of 1964/Barred employment discrimination against women
-Contraception for women -Abortion made legal
-Women had big liberation groups
-No fault divorce law -Rise of feminist newspapers
-Margaret thatcher became president
These are all acts and effects from second wave feminism
